Virginia Sperling, a long-time Avon Lake resident, turned 100 on November 6th and her longevity is celebrated by many admiring friends!
On November 5th, 2018, Avon Lake Mayor Greg Zilka officially proclaimed Virginia a model citizen, exemplifying the highest ideals in volunteerism and selfless service to others. He noted that Virginia was actively involved in organizations such as Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club and Women’s Club for almost 60 years. Throughout her many years, she developed a profound love of reading, creating floral arrangements, gardening, and fundraising for nonprofit organizations. “She has many friends because she is a friend to many,” stated Mayor Zilka, as he recognized Virginia for her outstanding accomplishments. With a warm smile and handshake, he extended his deep appreciation and congratulations to Virginia for all her dedicated work in the local community.
Virginia celebrated her birthday by gracefully accepting many invitations throughout the week! The Villager joins in honoring Virginia’s long life and wishes her many happy days ahead.
