With a stellar performance from the entire team and program, Avon High captured the prestigious Southwestern Conference Tournament championship at the league meet hosted at Midview Saturday.
Avon crowned three champs: Cael Saxton (106), a winner by tech fall over North Olmsted’s Jeffery Kennedy in the finals, Tommy Sear (145), who claimed his third SWC title after missing his junior campaign last year due to a shoulder injury, Luke Masisak (160) and Jordan Greer (195).
Cade Robertson (120) and Jack Roesch (Hvy) took runner-up honors.
The title gives Avon a season co-championship with Berea-Midpark, who went undefeated in league duals. Avon’s 163.5-141 advantage in the tournament final score proved sweet revenge for dropping a dual meet to the Titans in the regular season.
The win gave first year head coach Jeremy Johnson, Brecksville grad and Ohio U. standout, a great start to his coaching career at Avon.
The Eagles also had two other placewinners in Ethan Sear (third at 113) and Aaron Endrizal (third at 170).
