AAUW March Meeting Featuring Jeanette Jenkins WWII Women’s Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs)

Join the AAUW (American Association of University Women) on March 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Westlake Porter Library, 27333 Center Ridge Rd. for a meeting portraying Jeanette Jenkins WWII Women’s Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs).

Kathy Kraus will portray pilot Jeanette Jenkins of the Women’s Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs). Her portrayal is entitled, “For God, Country and the Thrill of it all.” Jeanette Jenkins, an Ohio native from Dover and New Philadelphia, was one of 1,076 chosen from a population of 25,000 who applied to become pilots in WWII. Thirty-eight of these pilots died in service to our country. These WASP pilots flew AT6, P51, B17, B29 and were the first to fly with instruments. There will be a display of WWII memorabilia and samples of food served on the home front reflecting food rationing. All are welcome.
