The Rocky River High School (RRHS) Robotics team competed in the Buckeye Regional FIRST Robotics Competition last week at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center.
Teams had practice matches on Thursday (March 28) with qualification matches all day on Friday (March 30) and Saturday (March 31) morning.
The final rounds took place on Saturday afternoon.
Now in its second year of competition, the RRHS Robotics team completed its robot during the six-week Build Season which ended in mid-February.
The theme for this year’s competition is Destination Deep Space and teams are challenged to build robots that can move, load cargo, secure hatches and see autonomously through either coding or a vision system.
Mr. Nathan Woos, a mathematics teacher at RRHS, serves as the advisor to the robotics team which consists of about 25-30 students.
Last year, RRHS was named the Highest Ranked Rookie Team at the competition.
