The Bay High Drama Club entertained the community with an excellent performance of “The Addams Family, a New Musical Comedy,” over a three-day span from March 21-23.
Each show was a virtual sellout as rave reviews after opening night spread through town via social media and brought many members of the Bay Community to the high school auditorium to witness first-hand the excellence of the production.
With Matt Hyland capturing the jovial, eccentric spirit of Gomez Addams and Christina Randazzo inhabiting the droll detachment of Morticia Addams perfectly, the cast brought every element of the script to life.
“It was an amazing show! Congrats to all involved and thanks for sharing it and all of your talents with our community!,” wrote one guest to the Secret Bay Village Facebook site after opening night.
Directed by Luke Scattergood, The Addams Family was additionally portrayed by Nick Pochatek as Uncle Fester, Jessica Medley as Wednesday, Sam Brown as Pugsley, Liza Dwyer as Grandma, Garrett Butler as Lurch, Zach Greenberg as Mal Beineke, Hope Nearhood as Alice Beineke and Eddie Papp as Lucas Beineke.
Depth of staging was enabled by a addition of 30 ‘ancestors’ played by other Bay High students, and the excellence of the student orchestra ably ensured the authenticity of a truly live performance. Behind the scenes, over a dozen crew member also assured the excellence of the production.
“I’m always amazed by Bay High’s productions. It’s hard to believe the actors are high schoolers,” added another attendee. “This was yet another top notch show!!”
