COFA Offers a Feast of Artwork at Porter Library

The Westlake-Westshore Arts Council’s 2019 Community of Fine Arts Show is currently on exhibit at Westlake Porter Public Library through the end of August and it offers a wealth of fine viewing. The19th edition of this unique juried art show also offers art demonstrations on Saturdays in August from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ending with a Meet the Artists Reception & Awards Ceremony from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 31.

The Saturday Live Art Demonstrations, held in the Porter Library Lobby, include: Ink Drawing by Sean Crum on August 10; Acrylic by Tom Baracskai on August 17 and Watercolor by Ken Marshall on August 24. The public is welcome to any, or all, of these free activities.

The skilled judges who took on the task of determining awards for the 2019 COFA are Sharlene Pearl Green, Stuart Pearl and Cathy Welner. Their award decisions in eight categories are:

* WATERCOLOR – Professional category: 1st Place to Nancy Notarianni “Bird of a Feather”; 2nd Place to Bob Parry “Cider Still Life”; Honorable Mention to Ken Marshall “Iris”; Amateur category: 1st Place to Martha Anderson “Pacific Coastline”; 2nd Place to Claire Palmisano “Fall in Olmsted Falls”; Honorable Mention to Karen Bennett “Boat Dock Scenery”.

* OIL/ACRYLIC – Professional category: 1st Place to Dani Marinucci “The Things I Love”; Amateur category: 1st Place to Barbara Hall “The Red Handled Pitcher”; 2nd Place to Jean Smith “A Country Lane”; Honorable Mention to Grace Lin “Still Life = Granny Smith, Cortland.”

* DRAWING/PEN & INK – Amateur category: 1st Place to Howard Hoehn “Portrait of a Giraffe”; 2nd Place to Marguerite Arendec “Conner”; Honorable Mention to Eileen Elliott “Elegant Iris”.

* CHARCOAL/PASTEL – Amateur category: 2nd Place to Grace Lin “Pensive”; Honorable Mention to Paul Collander “Falling Clouds”.

* DIGITAL – Amateur category: 1st Place to Punit Vaidya “Portrait of My Lovely One”; Honorable Mention to Jeff Darner “Hide and Seek”.

* PRINTMAKING – Professional category: 1st Place to Ken Marshall “The Story Tellers”.
