A wrong-way driver on I-90 through Avon, Westlake and parts of Rocky River terrorized motorists the early morning of Dec. 21.

When finally halted going the wrong way on a Detroit Road exit ramp, the driver reportedly did not know why he was stopped by Police. He later tested 2x the legal limit of alcohol, report Police.

Here is the release: ‘On 12/21/19 at approx. 3:30AM WPD received several calls about a wrong way driver on I90.  The Cadillac SUV was driving east bound in the west bound lanes of I90 from Lorain County. WPD officers attempted to intercept the vehicle in the area of Columbia Rd but the driver ignored the officers and continued on by driving in the berm.  WPD officers pursued the vehicle while Rocky River PD attempted to stop oncoming traffic to attempt to avoid a potentially fatal head on collision. The suspect continued on to the ramp for Detroit Rd where the suspect drove the wrong way up the ramp.  The suspect was boxed in and stopped on Detroit Rd. The operator appeared intoxicated and did not have any idea why he was being stopped. The 24yo from Lorain was arrested for OVI and various traffic charges. The male passenger in the SUV was woken up by the officers.  They noted that he needed support to walk as he was so unsteady on his feet. The passenger, a 25yo Elyria resident was taken into custody for disorderly conduct while being intoxicated, a minor misdemeanor. At the WPD jail, the driver tested over 2x the legal limit of alcohol.’
