Rematch! The greatest rivalry in west shore football renews this Friday as Avon and Avon Lake High Schools meet in the OHSAA Div. II Regional Finals at Avon’s Firment Stadium.
It promises to be a memorable match-up as the arch-rivals pick up where they left off after Avon’s Silver Rail win over the Shoremen the opening night of the season, 33-30, in double overtime to set the stage for the Eagles 5th straight Southwestern Conference championship.
At stake is a trip to the state final four. Avon topped Brecksville-Broadview Hts., 38-28, in the regional semis while Avon Lake traveled to Toledo Central Catholic and rang up an impressive 16-14 win over the state’s second-ranked team to advance to the regional finals.
