On Saturday 12/4/21 at approx. 2:45AM WPD received a business alarm call from the Speedway at Detroit and Bradley Rds. Officers arrived within a few minutes and found that the front door window had been smashed out but no one was still around. Surveillance footage showed that a single male entered the store after breaking the window. He was only in the store for a minute but was able to make off with some cigarettes and a small amount of cash. Officers are following up with evidence collected on scene. It is believed that this break in is related to the 11/30/21 smash and grab from the BP station across the street.
2 of the attached photos are from the Speedway B+E. The photo labeled BP is from the 11/30/21 break in. If anyone knows the male or has any information they are encouraged to contact the WPD non-emergency phone at 440-871-3311. You may remain anonymous.

Thieves Move Car to Get at Lexus
During the overnight hours of 12/7 into 12/8 Westlake had numerous vehicles entered in driveways on residential streets in Westlake. Items were taken from inside the vehicles including wallets, computers and an ipad. All the vehicles were accidently left unlocked. Unfortunately a resident on Laughlin Ln also left keys in their 2 vehicles in the driveway. Suspect(s) actually moved one vehicle out of the driveway to get it out of the way of a Lexus which was stolen from the resident.
Other Westlake Break-ins
Other streets affected included Wakefield, Balmoral, Bassett, Settlers Reserve, Woodmill and Graystone. More than 10 vehicles were entered in all. Westlake PD is reminding residents to complete a 9PM routine each and every night. Lock the doors to your home and vehicles. Go out and physically check each and every night. Please take all valuables inside including car keys. And please call WPD if you see suspicious vehicles/persons or activity in your neighborhoods. Police will have extra patrols of the neighborhoods but your eyes and ears are force multipliers. A quick report can stop these thieves in their tracks. Hearing about suspicious activity the next day is helpful, but hearing about it when it is happening can allow our officers to check on activity immediately.
