Congratulations Avon Dance Team!
Last Sunday was the regional qualifier for the 2022 OASSA Cheer and Dance State Championships and they Qualified for State in all 3 routines!
AHS Elective Highlights
This week on Twitter, the AHS Guidance Counselors are highlighting several elective courses. First up is – Know Your Home. This course is great for students who want to learn some general skills for home ownership! Pictured is one of the class projects: build and decorate a birdhouse!
Mandarin Program: AHS class elective highlight today: The Mandarin program! Pictured below are some of the fun projects done in the program including: Learn about Mandarin speaking countries while playing Monopoly, Interview Mulan, Design a Valentine’s Day card, and create a Facebook profile for Harry Potter!
Statistics: AHS elective class highlight today is Statistics. Recent class activities included Egg Roulette and Barbie Bungee Jump. We’re also offering Stats 2 next year at AHS.
Visiting Musicians
This week Avon High School student musicians visited with the fifth-grade classes at Heritage to talk about the music opportunities in middle and high school, as well as the importance of being involved. AHS junior Sam DeTillio referenced the popular Disney movie, “High School Musical,” and explains his decision to play sports and be part of the music program. Sam is the QB on Avon’s football team and he also plays tenor sax in the band. Thank you to all the students and directors for sharing your insight! #AvonInspires

These ladies qualified for OASSA State in both Game Day & Traditional routines! Next stop, Nationals!! They head to Florida this week!
All in the Family
It’s a family affair….Congratulations AHS swimmer Alex Downing for breaking the 30-Year SWC 100 Butterfly record that was held by her mom and Westlake alum, Lisa Schuette Downing! Alex also broke another SWC record at the SWC Meet in the 100 Back. The Girls Swim Team also won the SWC Championship!

Silver for Avon Gymnasts
The Avon Gymnastics team took 2nd place at last weekend’s 15 team Stateline Tournament with a 137.50. SWC on Thursday. Go Eagles!
