After almost 100 years of operation, the Avon Lake Power Plant will cease operations at the end of this month, and the City of Avon Lake wants to commemorate its history.
“We are looking for folks who explored the tunnels under the power plant as a kid OR had a relative who worked for the plant OR used the smoke stacks to provide a landmark in a storm OR had any other memorial experience with the power plant to share their stories and photos.”
Avon Lake Community TV will compile all these memories into a video. Ted Esborn, Economic Development Director for Avon Lake, will show the video, as well as discuss the future of the plant at the Avon Lake Kiwanis Club meeting on Thursday, March 31, at 7:15 p.m. in the Waugmann Gallery at the Avon Lake Public Library. All are welcome to this free presentation.
Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 25th at 5:00 p.m. Go to AvonLake.org for more details.
