Westlake Community Event to Raise Money for Westlake Sports

After a two-year hiatus, The Westlake Demons Athletic Boosters (WDAB) will host its annual Demon Derby & Casino this April 9th. The purpose of the community event is to raise money to support athletics in Westlake including sports at Westlake High School and Lee Burneson Middle School.

Sponsored by University Hospitals North Ridgeville Endoscopy Center and supported by Dr. Marcietta Wilson-Coleman, Prime Meats, and SyncShow and held at St. Demetrios Church Cultural Center, the Demon Derby will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 11:00 pm. All community members are invited to attend. The event will feature Horse Racing, Casino, Sideboards, Raffle Prizes and the Ultimate Tailgate Prize Package.

Vice President of WDAB and the Demon Derby Event Chair, Delcia Ostrowski says like all programs, the Demon Derby had to take a break to ensure the safety of attendees.

“We are thrilled to announce that this event is back!” said Ostrowski. “After a two-year break, people are really excited to come out and have fun for a great cause.”

WDAB President, Virnette House Browning also stressed the importance of athletics with all the uncertainty. “It’s been a tough two years for so many people on so many levels, including our student-athletes. The Demon-Derby is a chance for community members to get out and experience a sense of normalcy while supporting athletics in our schools,” said House-Browning.

Tickets are only $50 which includes dinner, beer/wine/soft-drinks, and dessert. To purchase tickets visit westlakeathleticboosters.org/demon-derby.cfm. Sponsorships are also available for purchase.
