The Bay Village Board of Education reached the final steps of its superintendent search on Thursday, March 18, by announcing the two finalists who will move forward in the process.
● Scot Prebles, Superintendent, Forest Hills Local School District, Cincinnati, OH
● Ben Richards, Superintendent, Valley View Local School District, Germantown, OH
These two candidates were selected from a pool of six semifinalists who were interviewed by the Bay Village Board of Education during executive session on March 14 and 15, 2022.
Next, each of the two candidates will participate in a question-and-answer session with union leadership, staff members, student leaders, district-related organization representatives and community leaders.These interviews will occur during previously announced Special Board Meetings on Monday and Tuesday, March 28 and 29, during executive session Bay Village Board of Education President Paul Vincent said there were clear themes that surfaced during the focus groups part of the search process in December and January, and these two candidates check many of those boxes.
“Mr. Prebles and Mr. Richards emerged as stellar visionaries whose experience and passion for education position them to lead our district in its quest to become a lighthouse of excellence throughout Ohio,” said Vincent.
The Board plans to announce the new Superintendent in early April.
On June 14, 2021, the Bay Village Board of Education accepted the resignation of then Superintendent Jodie Hausmann, effective July 31, 2021. During its July 14, 2021, Special Board Meeting, the Bay Village Board of Education voted to appoint the district’s Director of Teaching and Learning, Char Shryock, as Bay Village Schools’ Interim Superintendent. Her expanded role began August 1, 2021.
