Westlake Mayor Dennis M. Clough administered the Oath of Office to three police officers March 16 ahead of the annual Police Awards Ceremony.
Promoted: Detective Richard Lea was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, having demonstrated outstanding work during his time with Westlake as a patrolman, a detective, an instructor in various disciplines and a member of the Westshore Enforcement Bureau (WEB). Before coming to Westlake in December 2018, Sgt. Lea spent five years with the Macedonia Police Department’s Detective Bureau and SWAT Team.
Welcome: Mayor Clough also swore in two new Westlake Police Patrolmen – Michael Thompson and Bailey Gannon. Ptl. Thompson spent 10 years as a patrolman in Fairview Park. As an operator on WEB SWAT for the past five years, he has assisted in instruction on subject control, firearms and tactics. Ptl. Gannon is a third-generation police officer who has spent the last two and a half years with the Cleveland Police Department.
