A Link to the Past: Westlake Fire Helmet Finds its Way Home

Westlake Firefighters Local 1814 recently received a Facebook message through their page from Ali Zadorozny of Lorain.

She said that she found an old Lorain firefighter helmet in her new home, and was hoping to find the owner’s identity and reunite it with their family.

After posting in a Facebook group, former Lorain Firefighters responded and believed the helmet belonged to Clarence Wilker who retired from there in the 80’s, and passed away not long after.

“They also told her that Clarence was the father of recently retired Westlake firefighter Brian Wilker, so Ali reached out to us next,” reports the union. “We were able to contact Brian and get his information to Ali this morning.

“Thanks to the Zadorozny’s for their efforts to find whose helmet they found, and for reaching out to us!”
