Empty Bowls by the Lake is Back in Person This Year!

Mark your calendars! The annual Empty Bowls by the Lake fundraiser will take place on Saturday, November 19. Students are creating handcrafted bowls. Local restaurants will donate soup. Guests will be invited to a simple meal of soup and bread served at Avon Middle School from 11am- 2pm. In exchange for a $20 donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the ‘empty bowls’ in the world. The event will include live entertainment (Avon High School’s Electric Orchestra and a local high school a cappella group), a raffle (Cleveland Browns tickets and 30” digital electric smoker) and a silent auction featuring lots of great experience packages and Christmas gifts. All proceeds benefit Second Harvest Food Bank and local food banks.

Our local chapter, Empty Bowls by the Lake, represents communities from as far west as Put-in-Bay to as far east as Chagrin Falls and has raised over $93,000 since its start in 2012. For every dollar donated, Second Harvest Food Bank can provide 7 meals.

Participating schools include Bay HS, Avon Lake HS, Olmsted Falls HS, Avon HS, Lake Ridge Academy, North Ridgeville HS, Vermilion HS, Elyria HS, Lorain HS, Midview HS, Put-in-Bay School, North Olmsted HS, Avon Lake MS, Avon MS and LCCC.

Empty Bowls by the Lake is looking for sponsors, volunteers, donations to the silent auction, and restaurants who want to donate soup. Please contact us through Facebook-Empty Bowls by the Lake.
