With a 35-14 win over North Royalton at Avon last Friday night, the Avon Eagles rolled to 11-1 this season and into a regional semi-finals game against Southwestern Conference foe Olmsted Falls (10-2).
It will be the second time this season that the Eagles and Bulldogs meet, Avon having topped Falls, 63-42, midway through the regular season. This Friday’s game should once again provide plenty of fireworks as these teams both field potent offenses. They play at Pat Catan Stadium at Strongsville High School Friday at 7 p.m.
Quarterback Sam DeTillio paced the win over Royalton as he passed for 160 yards and 2 TDs while also following terrific blocking to rush for 152 yards.
Falls has one of the best running backs in the state in Rocco Conti. The Bulldogs topped Whitehouse Anthony Wayne, 28-10, last Friday to advance to the regional semis.
But Avon fields tough running, too, as Jakorian Caffey finished with 148 yards on 21 carries with one TD against Royalton. Gavin Erhard adds more power to the running game.
For Falls, Rocco Conti is the story. This all-Ohio back has some great stats, including a 6-TD 350-yard rushing night in a 56-31 over Avon Lake in SWC action. Last week, Conti ran for 131 yards and 2 TD against Anthony Wayne. Can Avon stop this beast again? This game will be a good one!
