The University Hospital St. John Medical Center Auxiliary celebrated a year of important work with a holiday luncheon at Avon Oaks on Dec. 13.

The annual luncheon is a way for group members to celebrate another year of friendship and meaningful work at the hospital.

“The UHSJMC Auxiliary exists strictly for charitable purposes and is run by volunteers,” notes Sig Senko, Co-President UHSJMC Auxiliary.

“We vote to donate thousands of dollars every year to various departments requesting certain funds based on their needs, and we also give scholarships to seniors wanting to enter the medical field.

“Our revenue comes from gift shop sales and lobby vendor sales so we are thankful to everyone who supports us and the vendors.”

Board members are Paul Forthofer, LaSchelle Williams, Lisa Gallaway, Michele Mastantuono and Sig Senko.

“The gift shop is managed by Linda Whelan, who does a fantastic job of purchasing and displaying unique merchandise,” adds Senko. “Our friendly and helpful cashiers are also volunteers who devote hours of their time. It is through their dedication and those of the board members, our manager, and everyone who supports us that the Auxiliary is as successful as it is. We meet great people in this hospital and it’s an honor to be part of the Auxiliary.”

Gifts to hospital departments are part of the festivities. This year, the UH SJMC Auxiliary made the following gifts to various departments:

  • Rachel Kelch (Social Worker) – Emergency Prescription Assistance Program, $5000
