On Sunday February 19th our country lost a true hero.
Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Michael T. Ernst passed away while performing advanced military parachute training in Marana, Arizona.
Michael was in his 13th year of dedicated service to the U.S. Navy. In that time he completed multiple combat deployments and was a member of the Navy’s most elite fighting force. Michael was a highly decorated combat veteran with numerous awards including the Silver Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Joint Service Commendation Medal with Combat Device.
He was born and raised just outside of Boston Massachusetts, in the town of Cohasset, where he lived with his parents and five siblings. Michael was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and teammate. He is survived by his wife and their two young children.
Michael was a teammate of Bay Village resident Matt Behm. They served together for four years at SEAL Team 10 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Matt lives in Bay Village with his wife Bethany and their four children.
