Village Bicycle Cooperative Teaches Students

Village Bicycle Cooperative (in Bay Village) volunteers just finished up involvement with Ranger High Tech Academy in N. Ridgeville with their second annual Bike Project! In this project volunteers Bob Piccirelli, Carl Gonzales, Dave Kett and Eric Evanoff worked with the students in disassembling four used bikes, repairing and replacing worn or broken components, re-assembling and adjusting them to great working condition. The educational emphasis was identifying physical forces that act on a bike, primarily friction. Several days were spent at the Academy in “hands on” learning! The finished bikes will be brought to the VBC shop and donated to the several charitable and refugee organizations served by the VBC. Based on the continuous feedback from the RHTA teacher Tom Lundin, the project was hugely successful. Looking forward to making the project even better next year!
