Bay Wins the Jug! Defeats Westlake, 44-28

It was a good old-fashioned slug-fest at Westlake’s Lou Duchez Field in St. John Medical Center last Friday night as Bay prevailed in the area’s oldest rivalry with a 44-28 win over Westlake.

Bay again captured the Little Brown Jug, the trophy emblematic of victory in each year’s match.

Bay relied on a solid second half comeback as Westlake pretty much owned the first two periods in posting a 21-7 lead at the half.

But Bay pounded the ball after the intermission with relentless running from Brandon Spellman and Rocco Ereditario. Spellman ended the night with 202 yards and 3 TDs while Ereditario blasted for 138 yards and also posted 3 TDs.

The win kept Bay dead-on pace for a Great Lakes Conference championship showdown this Friday at home against Rocky River. Both teams are 7-1 and 3-0 in the GLC West Division. Westlake slips to 5-3. The Demons travel to North Olmsted Friday.
