Westlake Wellness & Safety Day

Chomps and Friend Cleveland Browns mascot Chomps made an appearance at the Westlake Wellness & Safety Day Sept. 14. On hand to meet him was ABHI, a Pet Pal at UH St. John Medical Center.

The Westlake Recreation Center was alive with activity on Saturday, Sept. 14, as the second annual Westlake Community Run and One Mile Walk was followed by a Wellness and Safety Day.

118 runners took part in the 5K with 29-year old Emily Ambrose of Cleveland taking first overall in the great time of 18:11. 33-year old Jeff Woos was second in 19:23 and 42-year old Tracy Tungac of Sheffield was third overall in 19:51. Complete results are listed at Hermes Cleveland.

New 8:30 a.m. race was a pancake breakfast from 9am to 11am following the race catered by Chris Cakes, known for their world famous flying flapjacks. There was also a free Kids Dash.

The event also included kids Inflatables and a DJ. The fair was hosted by University Hospitals and the City of Westlake. Touch-a-Truck, magician, free bike helmets and UH health screenings were available for all.
