North Ridge Racket & Paddle: Your NEO’s Local Pickleball Headquarters

If you have yet to get infected with the bug yet, Pickleball is the infectious rage for thousands of fitness devotees throughout the country. Cities all around have redesigned their parks and relined their indoor basketball courts, even fitness clubs devoted space for this sport that’s taking the world by storm. Now, the question is, how and where can we get involved and not be left out another day?

Our own hometown local North Ridge Racket & Paddle is the answer!

Located at 5475 Mills Creek Lane, North Ridgeville, the 50000-plus square foot facility is just west of the county line off Center Ridge Road.

New owner as of Nov. 2021 Michael Boukzam has invested heavily in revitalizing a devastated tennis club (COVID, Flood and Fire) into a welcoming family friendly state-of-the art facility for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to five newly resurfaced US Open style tennis courts which are easily converted to 10 pickleball courts, NRRP is also the first to have 4 additional Dedicated indoor pickleball courts in this area. The club offers many amenities including multiple large social areas, a private gym, indoor Bocce, indoor turf sports as well as indoor golf simulators.

Now, what is pickleball? It is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s played on a court that’s similar in size to a badminton court.

Pickleball is an easy to learn, low impact exercise that can be enjoyed by most people. But it is also a great workout, can be very competitive and is a great way to connect socially.

Just like tennis, the objective of pickleball is to hit the ball back and forth over the net, so that the other player cannot return it. Serves are under hand and can be played singles or doubles. The game is played on a court that is 20 feet wide and 44 feet long. You can play pickleball with friends and with family members of all skill levels and ages and abilities.

Seniors love pickleball. “It promotes physical health, social interaction, and cognitive sharpness. The low-impact nature of pickleball makes it suitable for seniors, reducing joint stress while improving balance, coordination, and agility,” says equipment supplier Paddletek.

North Ridge Racket & Paddle offers a wide range of affordable and inexpensive membership options, an online booking and registration system, lessons, drills and leagues under the direction of qualified professionals.

In addition, they offer FREE MEMBERSHIPS as well as FREE PLAY 5 days a week to all Silver Sneakers and Renew Active/Plus programs. They encourage the seniors to come indoors and play in climate controlled fresh air space (Heat in winter and Air Conditioned in the hot summer). If you have yet to visit them, look for FREE $10 in their ad and plan to visit them real soon.
