Six Bay Rockets Commit to Playing in College

On Wednesday, February 5, Bay High School celebrated “Signing Day” as six student-athletes from the Class of 2025 committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. The athletes honored at the event were Liam Albright, Erin Belveal, Michael Hanselman, Spencer Grace, Quinn O’Leary, and Connor Spellman.

Liam Albright committed to John Carroll University, where he will compete in football.  This past fall, Albright earned First Team All-Cleveland West Conference and First Team All-Northeast Lakes District. He earned Second Team All-Ohio honors.  He was also name CWC Lineman of the Year and was selected to the First Team Morning Journal All-Stars.  Congratulations to Liam and his family on his commitment to John Carroll University.

Erin Belveal committed to Waynesburg University, where she will compete in cross country and track & field. This past fall, Belveal earned First Team All-Cleveland West Conference and First Team All-District honors. She placed 8th at the OHSAA Regional Meet, qualifying for the OHSAA State Meet, where she finished 38th. Belveal also earned Academic All-Ohio recognition and was selected to the First Team Morning Journal All-Stars. Congratulations to Erin and her family on her commitment to Waynesburg University!

Spencer Grace committed to Otterbein University, where he will continue competing in cross country and track & field. This past season, Grace earned First Team All-Cleveland West Conference honors and qualified for the OHSAA State Meet, finishing 138th. He was instrumental in helping his team win its first-ever Cleveland West Conference team championship and secure an 8th-place finish at the OHSAA State Meet. Grace also earned Academic All-Ohio honors. Congratulations to Spencer and his family on his commitment to Otterbein University!

Michael Hanselman committed to Kent State University for cross country and track & field. Hanselman had an outstanding season, winning the Cleveland West Conference Championship and earning First Team All-Cleveland West Conference honors. He was also the OHSAA District Champion and qualified for the OHSAA State Meet, where he placed 49th. Hanselman played a key role in leading his team to its first-ever Cleveland West Conference team championship and an 8th-place finish at the OHSAA State Meet. He was named Morning Journal Runner of the Week, selected to the First Team Morning Journal All-Stars, and earned Academic All-Ohio honors. Congratulations to Michael and his family on his commitment to Kent State University!

Quinn O’Leary committed to Westminster University to play basketball. As a junior, O’Leary earned Second Team All-Great Lakes Conference honors and secured her third varsity letter. Congratulations to Quinn and her family on her commitment to Westminster University!

Connor Spellman committed to Pomona College, where he will compete in cross country and track & field. Spellman had a stellar season, earning First Team All-Cleveland West Conference honors. He qualified for the OHSAA State Meet after placing 16th at the OHSAA Regional Meet. At the State Meet, Spellman led Bay’s team with a 12th-place finish, earning All-Ohio honors. He was also a key contributor to Bay’s first-ever Cleveland West Conference team championship and 8th-place finish at the OHSAA State Meet. Spellman was named to the First Team Morning Journal All-Stars and received Honorable Mention from Cleveland.com All-Stars. Congratulations to Connor and his family on his commitment to Pomona-Pitzer!
