Cutest Pet Westlake Contest 2025

It’s time to announce the winners of the Cutest Pet in Westlake Contest 2025 Sponsored by The Westlake Historical Society.

The contest has 2 divisions: Canine and Feline. Below is some information on the winners.

In the Feline category, the winner is Dr. L. Weston House, who answers to Weston or Westy. He is the last living creature to inhabit the Lilly Weston House before construction began. He was a kitten when originally found and is now nearly 14 years old. His breed is most likely a Turkish Van type, a medium sized cat with long and fluffy fur that makes him look larger than he really is.

Weston is loving and friendly and likes food that bears the flavor of the sea. “If it swims, it is in” seems to be his motto. Although lounging and sleeping are one of his favorite things to do while looking cute and meowing loudly for catnip and/or sea food flavored treats, he is also very quick when he needs to be.

Center West Animal Hospital and Dr. Patrick Manubay provides medical care for this beautiful boy.

In The Canine Division:

First Place: Piper, a 15 year old Yorkshire Terrier who is the faithful companion of 89 year old Janet O’Neil. Piper follows many yorkies as they are Mrs. O’Neil’s favorite breed. Being of Scottish heritage and likely bagpipes, Piper was the best choice of names for her cuddly, gentle, and non-shedding little friend.

Piper receives her medical care from Banfield Veterinary.

Second Place: Lisa Engel is the proud pet parent of Santina, a five year old, 16 pound, Italian Greyhound. Ms. Engel was looking for another dog after her Whippet had passed. She was attracted to the Sighthound Group and found Santina.

Since he was named when he came to his new home, it was decided to retain his original name since it seems to suit him so well. He likes long walks, cuddling, sleeping, and finding local businesses that provide pet treats.

Among other things, hard ribble and meaty snacks motivate Santina who grew up around other many other animals on a farm, and likes to run like a gazelle.

Third Place: Bodhi lives with Steyven and Renee Curry and is a 6 year old Peekapoo. While his pet parents were researching the breed because they wanted a small dog, they saw his picture and fell in love.

Bodhi is named for Patrick Swayze’s character in the Point Break movie. He loves steak, chicken, and sweet potatoes.

He is very intelligent and loves to play outdoors. He enjoys long walks and playing with his brother Gunner, a Maltiepoo.
