Christmas is really special in Avon this year! The annual Christmas parade and tree lighting festival at the Aquatic Center park had plenty to celebrate as Avon High’s state championship football, boys soccer and volleyball teams led the way.
Headlining the event was winner of this year’s Golden Ticket – a ride with Santa in his horse drawn sleigh. This year’s winner was a little girl, Isabella, an Avon East student. She received her Golden Ticket on Friday as Clint Gault and members of the French Creek District team stopped at the school to spread holiday cheer. Mayor Jensen and members of the city’s Police and Fire Depts were also on hand to help Santa and his elf spread the good cheer.
The parade stopped at the Aquatic Center, where the aroma of pizza, hot chocolate and music from school choraleers filled the air. Isabella led the count down as she was joined by the mayor and Clint as they watched to see the city’s holiday lights come alive in the night.
A great way to start the holiday season.
