Westlake Fourth of July

Just like George Washington
We didn’t know you needed a boat to cross Hilliard Blvd! But that is just what Westlake Porter Public Library Director did on the Fourth of July as he donned his George Washington attire and replicated our first president’s crossing of the Delaware during the Revolutionary War. We all know that Washington was our country’s first president. But he didn’t take office until 1789. The Continental Congress, a convention of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies, acted as the first governing body of the United States from 1774 to 1789.
