Ancestor to Deliver a Talk About President James A. Garfield

Sept., 2026 Bay Village Historical Society Potluck

Tim Garfield, the great-great-grandson of President Garfield and the executive director of The Garfield Trail of Ohio, will be the featured speaker at the Sept. 17 Bay Village Historical Society potluck dinner and program.

The talk will follow the life of James A Garfield from his birth in Orange, OH, to Lake View Cemetery, his final resting place. Along the way, Tim Garfield will also talk about the history of Moreland Hills, Hiram College, the Mentor Farm and Lake View Cemetery.

The presentation, held at the Bay Lodge, 492 Bradley Rd. in Bay Village, begins with a social at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and program at 7 p.m.

The main dish of burgers and brats will be provided by the historical society. Attendees with last names beginning with A through J should bring a side dish for 10 to share. Those with last names beginning with K through Z should bring a dessert for 10 to share. All attendees should bring their own place setting and beverage. Alcohol is permitted at the lodge.
