Westlake High School proudly dedicated its new synthetic turf athletic field at the newly-named UH St. John Medical Center Stadium last Thursday evening under glorious September skies.
“On behalf of Westlake High School, I would like to thank all of the individuals and groups who worked so tirelessly towards making a Westlake High School turf field a reality,” said WHS Principal Timothy Freeman. “Thank you to the Westlake Athletic Development Fund, University Hospitals St. John Medical Center and all of the individual donors who supported the project.”
“University Hospitals St. John Medical Center is proud to assist in this most special project as well as take part in tonight’s dedication ceremonies,” said Robert G. David, UH SJMC President and Chief Experience Officer. “We remain committed to enhancing the communities that we serve and providing the best health care possible on Cleveland’s west side. Our heart has always been in the City of Westlake, which we have called home for more than 35 years.”
Craig Catanzarite, head of the Development Fund, joined with Athletic Director Tony Cipollone and BOE President Carol Winter in also offering thanks to sponsors. “Our stadium project elevates our facilities to a new level,” said Winter. “Thanks to private donations and the work of volunteers, including the Westlake Athletic Development Fund, the new turf field installed at Lou Duchz Field at University Hospitals St. John Medical Center Stadium, is one of many jewels in the crown of our award-winner school district.”
