Bay’s Erik Painter Sets Rocket Scoring Record

Congratulations to Bay High senior basketball standout Erik Painter. He became the school’s all-time career scoring leader two weeks ago as the Rockets defeated Elyria Catholic, 58-42, in Great Lakes Conference action. Erik surpassed the mark set by Jon Koz just two years ago a minute into the game against the Panthers. His early bucket made him Bay’s all-time leading scorer with 1,524 points. He finished with a game-high 21 points. Koz was in the stands and came down to greet Painter as the game was momentarily paused in recognition of the accomplishment. Now 15-5 this season, Bay closes the GLC season this week.
