Kids Helping Kids at Holy Trinity School

Eighth graders at Holy Trinity School in Avon have chosen A Kid Again, an Ohio-based nonprofit organization, as the focus of the Class of 2019 service project.

A Kid Again helps to bring hope and happiness to families who have a child with a life threatening illness by hosting free events, adventures and therapeutic opportunities.

In addition to volunteering at A Kid Again events, the Holy Trinity School Class of 2019 also set a fundraising goal of $10,000 devoted to benefiting the organization and its families.

Eighth grade advisors Mrs. Lisa Jaeger and Mr. John Nunney are helping to coordinate the service project, which most recently included a volunteer day filled with fun and games at Main Event in Avon.

“At Holy Trinity, we are committed to service and academic excellence,” said Co-principal Mike Modzeleski. “Our efforts on behalf of A Kid Again help to provide real-world perspective to our eighth graders as they use their time and talents in a service learning capacity.”

Nearly $4,000 of the $10,000 goal has been raised thanks to student efforts and the support of local businesses including Avon Nails, whose owners agreed to host a collection box for customers.

Serving the community, both near and far, is nothing new at Holy Trinity. In recent years, students raised $10,000 for a South Sudan Well project, $5,000 for Blessing House and more than $25,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Holy Trinity School, a private Catholic school, enrolls 500 students in grades K-8. Located in Avon, HTS is the largest parish school in Lorain County.
