Car keys were the apparent target of thieves who struck Westlake homes recently, absconding with owner vehicles to downtown Cleveland.
Westlake Police report:
On 12/26/19 at about 4:30AM WPD received a call from Cleveland PD reporting that they were investigating a hit-skip MVA in their city involving 2 vehicles that listed back to the same Briarwood Ct address in Westlake. WPD officers responded to the residence to find that both vehicles had been stolen from the home. There was no damage to the exterior of the house but the suspect(s) entered the home and found the keys to the vehicles. Both vehicles were driven away without the owners’ knowledge. Investigators are collecting evidence from the burglarized house as well as the recovered stolen vehicles.
Also on 12/26/19, at approx. 12pm, WPD responded to a home on King Arthur Ct for a reported stolen auto. The investigation revealed that, like the earlier call, someone entered the residence and stole the keys to the car. The vehicle was later found crashed in Cleveland. Investigators believe the 2 burglaries/stolen vehicles are related.
