Volunteers Make a Difference in Avon

Gazebo

Dear Avon,

We are so fortunate that Avon is such a giving, caring community. We have residents, businesses and even non-residents that volunteer their time and talents to better our city.

As I think of all the wonderful things that happened in Avon in 2019, the first thing I think of is all the volunteers that made those things possible.

It is easy to drive about the city and see the beautiful flowers at the gazebo or the lovely planters along Detroit Road, but never realize that the wonderful ladies in the Avon Garden Club spent countless hours taking care of those areas.

Volunteers and caring residents helped to make many well-deserving children feel special on Superhero Day. Volunteers with the French Creek Foundation made the Easter Pancake Breakfast and Tree Lighting ceremony huge successes! There are countless volunteers that work each Pride Day to beautify our city and get it ready for the summer.

Our new Veterans Memorial wouldn’t have been possible without the many hours that our dedicated volunteers selflessly gave. The city’s Safety Fair and Bike Parade are other examples of events that couldn’t take place without our volunteers.

This is just a reminder that as you enjoy all the incredible things the city of Avon has to offer, please know that, more often than not, community volunteers are working behind the scenes to make it possible.

I am truly grateful and thankful for all the wonderful people in our community that give so freely of their time to benefit the city of Avon and make it the wonderful place that it is. The volunteers of Avon truly are our city’s greatest resource.
