Two New Principals Join Avon Lake City Schools

At a Special Meeting yesterday (April 28), the Avon Lake City Schools (ALCS) Board of Education approved two new administrators to lead schools within the district.

Each received a three-year contract set to begin Aug. 1, 2021.

Mackenzie Hall will be the new principal at Troy Intermediate School (grades 5-6) in the fall. She replaces Andy Peltz who was recently named the new principal at Revere High School in the Revere Local Schools. Hall is currently the assistant principal at Dover Intermediate School in Westlake. She began her teaching career in the Avon Local Schools as a middle school science teacher.“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the community of Avon Lake and the esteemed staff of Troy Intermediate School,” said Hall. “During the interview process the committee spoke highly of the teachers and staff of Troy Intermediate School, noting how resiliently and composedly they had met the challenges of this school year. I’m excited to build relationships with the staff, students, and parents of Troy, and could not be more proud to call Troy Intermediate School my new home.”

Hall received her Master of Education degree from Ashland University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She completed the Inspired Leaders Principal Licensure program at Cleveland State University in 2017.

Hall resides in North Ridgeville with her husband Mike, and children Carter, 6; and Chloe, 2.

Holli Weber will be the new principal at Redwood Elementary School (grades K-4, LEAPS Preschool) in the fall. She replaces Lindsey Holeman who recently was named the Director of Student Services for the Bay Village City Schools.

Weber is currently the associate principal at A.I. Root Middle School in the Medina City Schools district. She has spent 16 years as a classroom teacher in the Elyria City Schools, and also completed an administrative internship with the Elyria schools.

“I am excited to be joining the Avon Lake City Schools and becoming a part of the Redwood team,” said Weber. “I look forward to meeting all of the students and their families. I hope to have the
opportunity to connect with everyone this summer. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be back in the elementary setting and work with our youngest students and the Redwood staff.”

She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Ashland University, a Master of Curriculum and Instruction Educational Technology from Cleveland State University, as well as a Master of
Educational Leadership obtaining her Principal Licensure K-12 from Concordia University-Chicago.

Weber resides in Berlin Heights with her husband Ben and their family. The couple have four children. Josh is married and lives in Maryland; Julie is a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh; Jorja is a freshman at Firelands High School; and Jonah is a fifth-grader at Firelands Elementary School.

“We had a very large number of applicants for each position,” said Dr. Jack Dibee, ALCS assistant superintendent. “Each school had a search committee made up of representatives from stakeholder groups. The committees used data from staff surveys on desired qualities and qualifications of the new principal during the multi-round interview process.”
