Community Rummage Sale to Benefit Hurricane Victims is a Tremendous Success
The Community Rummage Sale to benefit hurricane victims was a huge success raising over $10,000 for the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.
“This Community is just amazing,” remarked Annie Nock, event coordinator. “We hatched this idea, got the Bay Village Foundation and community volunteers on board, obtained City Council approval, and started spreading the word in a matter of just a couple of weeks. We received hundreds of wonderful items for the sale, and a large group of rummage sale shoppers turned out.”
Volunteers accepted donations for the sale at the Bayway Cabin beginning on Tuesday, October 2nd. Volunteers were on hand to help donors unload their cars, and the rummage sale items were immediately priced and organized by theme, including such areas as glassware, furniture, sporting goods, books, toys, and electronics. The sale was held on Friday and Saturday of the same week.
Al Paulus, president of The Bay Village Foundation was quick to thank all of the people who volunteered, donated and shopped. “This could never have happened without Annie and her team, including Patti Saracusa, Megan Slater, Tracy Sommer, Colleen Leitch, Michelle Ziebarth, Jeani Parr, Heidi Langer, Mary Kay Wilson, and Lurrie Cavano and may other great volunteers. They put this together in a short period of time, and it came together without a hitch. And what can you say about the people of Bay Village? No matter what the situation, no matter what the need, this community steps up. Raising over $10,000 for hurricane victims is just incredible. A big “thank you” to everyone involved, from the organizers, to the volunteers, to the donors, to the rummage sale shoppers. Just a great job by all.”
In addition to its annual grants and scholarships, The Bay Village Foundation has been involved with a number of community projects including the Fourth of July Fireworks Fund, the repairs of the City Hall clock tower, the fitness stations on the Cahoon Park walking trail, and the recent renovations at Play in Bay. For more information about The Bay Village Foundation Legacy Society, the grant application process or contributions towards a plaque on the Cahoon Park walking trail, please call 440-899-3490.
