Holiday Blues at Bay Party

On 12/08/2017, at 1323 hrs, officers were dispatched to a Knickerbocker Road home, near Clague Parkway, on a report that the male resident had been choked by a female guest who was still at the scene. When officers arrived, they found an extremely intoxicated 51-year old female. The officer wrote in his report the female “exhibited extreme difficulty formulating sentences and maintaining a coherent thought”. The 55-year old male said that he had been sitting on the edge of his bed when the female came into the room, slapped him in the face, pushed him back onto the bed and began choking him with her right hand. The victim’s face was reddened and there were red marks around his neck, consistent with his version of events. The female was arrested for Disorderly Conduct (Intoxication) and Assault.

Motorist Calls Out DUI

On 12/10/2017, 1728 hours, officers were dispatched to a 911 report from a motorist who reported they were behind a possible drunk driver in a silver Honda Pilot. The first officer at the scene got behind the vehicle and stopped it on Elmwood, south of Wolf Road. After initially noting the overwhelming odor coming from inside the vehicle, the officer asked the 35-year old male why he had been driving around in circles. The male, who had glassy eyes, said he was trying to get home. When asked, he could not remember where he lived, or even the name of the street. It turned out to be Midland. After failing roadside sobriety tests, the male was arrested for OVI. It should be noted that he had a prior OVI in June of 2016.

DUIs

On 12/06/2017, at 0020 hrs, an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle parked in Cahoon Park. As he was driving towards it, the vehicle, a black VW Jetta, left the park west bound on Lake Road. After stopping the VW and speaking with the two occupants, the officer suspected both to under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Both Sheffield Lake residents failed roadside sobriety tests and were subsequently arrested; the 18-year old female driver for OVI and the 19-year old male passenger for Underage Alcohol Prohibitions. During the pre-tow inventory of the VW a black and silver digital scale, with marijuana shake residue on it was found in the trunk. The male said it belonged to him. He was additionally charged with possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia.

On 12/08/2017, at 0039 hrs, an officer on routine patrol observed a silver Chevrolet pick up truck west bound on Lake Road near Cahoon Road. After seeing that the truck was weaving, the officer activated his emergency overhead lights, but the truck did not stop. It slowed down, hit the curb and then went onto the sidewalk. It did eventually stop near Porter Creek drive. The 55-year old male, from Avon Lake, had the strong odor of alcohol about his person. The male failed roadside sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI.
