Westlake Police: The Ride of Her Life

A 17 year old runaway Cleveland boy driving a 1994 Buick LeSabre (stolen in Cleveland) picked up a 17 year old North Olmsted girl whom he met on social media and took her on the ride of her life Dec. 5.

The boy drove recklessly on Dover Center Rd. and refused to stop when signaled by a Westlake police officer. He drove into North Olmsted and crashed on Butternut Ridge Rd. The girl was arrested at the scene, was treated for minor injuries at St. John Medical Center, and was turned over to her mom there.

She will be summonsed for Receiving Stolen Property. The driver ran from the scene, was arrested in a nearby backyard, and taken to the detention center. He faces at least RSP and Failing to Stop when Signaled charges.

Gun Invites Theft from Auto

Leaving a gun case with a 9mm handgun in it in plain view in the backseat of your car is NEVER a good idea. A Cedarwood Dr. man learned this on Dec. 4 when he found the driver’s rear window of his 2008 VW broken and his $700 firearm gone. His wallet containing $200 cash and multiple credit cards was also taken. Firearms ownership is too critical a responsibility to be managed so cavalierly. Bring them in the house and secure them properly.

ID Confusion

A 34yoa Brooklyn man tried to pass himself off as his brother during an I90 traffic stop on Dec 3. The subterfuge was discovered, and the driver was cited for DUS and arrested for Obstructing Official Business. A 34yoa Cleveland man who was a passenger was arrested on a Parma PD warrant.

Holiday Mayhem

– A Center Ridge Rd. man’s bike was tampered with on Dec. 1. He suspects a neighbor whom he has been feuding with. The suspect was arrested on Dec.6 for Criminal Damaging and Stalking .

– A parcel containing $200 worth of clothing was stolen on Nov. 24. When the victim did not get any response to the signs she posted around her Hunters Chase Dr. home, she reported the theft on Dec. 1.

– A Warren woman’s wallet (how’s that for alliteration) was lifted from her shopping cart on Dec. 2. She had been shopping at a Market St. store. To date, none of her credit cards have been misused.

– Items worth $3400 were stolen from a Crocker Park Blvd. store on Dec. 3. CCTV of the suspect does not show his face. In the course of an inventory, the store discovered that more merchandise was missing, but it could not be tied to this incident.

– 3 suspects stole property worth at least $300 from a Detroit Rd. store on Dec. 3. An employee tried to stop them and was bitten by one. They fled in a white car with no visible rear license plate. The bitten victim threw a bottle at that car, breaking out the rear window. CCTV of the melee is being sought.

– The heater and pivot from the driver’s side power mirror of a Westlake woman’s 2014 Honda Accord were stolen on Dec. 5. It was parked near her Market St. home.

– A cleaner at a Detroit Rd. office building discovered that an interior door had been forced open on Dec. 5. Nothing was taken and CCTV footage is being sought.

– Staff at a Detroit Rd. store reported a shoplifting episode which occurred on Dec. 3. A 64yoa Lorain man who has been banned from all of the chain’s stores took property worth $302.00. He is known to store staff, who reviewed their CCTV system, discovered the theft, and reported it on Dec. 6.
