The Bay High basketball team saw its season end by a scant one-point margin in the Div. II regional finals at Bowling Green last weekend. The 65-64 loss to upstart Lexington, which had beaten top-ranked Wauseon to also get to the finals game, left Bay with plenty of scrapbook material for the 2017-18 season.
Ending the year with a 20-7 record, Bay claimed a Great Lakes Conference co-championship with Holy Name. The Rockets then defeated Holy Name in overtime for a district title two weeks ago to advance to the state’s Sweet 16. Bay then topped Columbus Beechcroft 67-59 to advance to the Regional Finals and Elite 8 for the second time in three years.
