Hundreds of school-age athletes, from elementary school through high school, flocked to the Center for Orthopedics last week for the sixth year of Free Sports Physicals.
Area physicians donated time for the medical portion. The orthopedic exams were performed by board certified physicians of The Center for Orthopedics. These highly-trained and skilled specialists are recognized locally, regionally and nationally, and serve as the orthopedic team of the Cleveland Gladiators and the Lake Erie Monsters.
“Student athletes are an integral part of our practice,” said Sheila Tonn-Knopf, Director of The Center for Orthopedics, located in Sheffield at I-90 and Route 254. “Our physicians are athletes themselves, and they understand the importance of having a thorough sports physical performed before participation begins. This event is our way of giving back to the community, and it just keeps growing each and every year.”
Last year, 750 athletes turned out for this complimentary event to students who are required to receive a sports physical.
