Bay’s Normandy School Salutes Vets

More than 30 veterans, most relatives of students, were  in attendance at Bay Village’s Normandy School Tuesday morning for an inspiring tribute to Veteran’s Day.

Bay High Marching Band members performed patriotic songs and, following the assembly, led a parade of veterans and students around Dover Center Road. Students heard a presentation on Flag Etiquette from VFW member Jim Potter and also received small flags to march with and to take home.

“This morning was pretty darn amazing!,” said one parent. “I volunteered at Normandy Elementary’s Veteran’s Day program and cannot speak highly enough about it. The school honored over 30 vets of all ages, and when 200-plus kindergarten through second graders sing “My Country Tis of Thee” it is absolutely beautiful. They ended with every student and veteran holding a small American flag and parading around the block on this gorgeous fall day. It was quite a celebration of these heroes.”
