Holly Lane Elementary School in Westlake paid tribute to Veteran’s Day Tuesday afternoon with an inspirational assembly for all who have served our country.
This was the school’s 26th annual Veteran’s Day assembly. Students welcomed veterans at the school entrance and escorted them to the gym where a number of patriotic events took place.
Principal Mimi Verdone led guests in the Pledge of Allegiance and music teacher Mrs. Gregory directed students in several patriotic songs.
Students presented veterans with hand-crafted thank-you cards and red carnations. All took part in a sing-a-long of ‘God Bless America.’ The assembly concluded with an inspirational presentation of ‘God Bless the USA’ by the first grade, led by Mrs. Forshey, Mrs. Bernath and Mrs. Gregory.
Honored veterans, friends and family members were then invited to join in the cafeteria for a short reception.
