Avon Track Teams Sweep Reynolds Relays Titles

With namesake Jim Reynolds looking on Saturday afternoon, both the girls and boys track teams captured team titles at the 38th Reynolds Relays held on the Avon Schools track. Avon’s boys rolled up 111 points to easily outdistance runner-up Rocky River’s 64 point total. The Eagle girls also rang up 111 points to take first over 80 from runner-up Rocky River.

Leading Avon’s boys were led by solid showings in all areas. Miler Sean Kane posted a memorable win as he outdueled Elyria’s James Hawks for first in the 1600 meter run in 4:34.4. Avon’s throw team posted 44 points out of a possible 50. Paul Sturm led the way with seconds in both the discus and shot put.

Avon’s girls took firsts in the in the 4 x 100 shuttle hurdles, 110 hurdles and 4 x 400 relays.

For Avon’s boys, it was the first team win  the Reynolds Relays since 2008. For the girls, the repeat championship reprised consecutive wins back in ‘00-’01.
