The 2nd annual Avon Safety Fair was a hit for the community under perfect spring skies on Sunday, May 3, at Avon High School.
The Fair brought together many elements of both city and county-wide safety, health and wellness resources. Kids enjoyed a chance to climb on fire trucks, sit in police cars and even see a Police K9 dog demonstration courtesy of handler Chris Barton and the city’s top canine officer, Lennox. The Lorain County Bomb Squad, Lorain county SWAT and Ohio State Highway Patrol added to the fun.
Another highlight was the landing of the University Hospitals MedEvac helicopter. Inside Avon High, Cleveland Clinic offered health screenings, joined by tables manned by members of many community organizations like Christian Heritage Church, Lorain County 911, Lorain County Office on Aging and the Avon Senior Center. A great day for all involved.
