Avon Youth Football kicked off the season with a family and team cookout at Veteran’s Park Thursday evening.

Mike Cooper of Cooper Disposal and Ben Fligner of Fligner’s Market were busy manning the grill as starving gridders dropped their helmets and ran to feast in the pavilion after practice. Jeff Lindsay, Anthony Detillo and Otha Davison rounded out the hosts who generously presented this event.

Perfect weather accompanied the cookout as Mayor Bryan Jensen and Avon High head football coach Mike Elder and staff joined in the fun.

A highlight of the evening was the donation of a new equipment shed at Veteran’s Park from Cooper Disposal. The brand new structure is home to helmets, shoulder pads and all the Youth Football equipment these future Eagles will need. Mayor Jensen expressed his sincere thanks to Cooper Disposal for the generous gift on behalf of the city and all future Eagle players.

Truly a night of community celebration, Avon-style!
