Avon Students Write Letters to Troops

Students from Avon East Elementary School and Avon Middle School wrote a grand total of 679 letters for our troops. Capt. Barry Delaney Masin, USMC, stopped by the schools to pick up the letters and thank the students. The letters were part of a national project to help set a world record for patriotism. The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is participating in Project Patriot, an official Guinness World Records attempt for “Most letters to military personnel collected in one month.” The letters from Avon will be included in the national total.

Capt. Masin is the son of Peggy Masin, second-grade teacher at Avon East.
