Westlake High Award Winners at Ohio State Fair Technology & Engineering Showcase

Students of the Westlake High School Technology & Engineering (T & E) Department garnered several awards at the Ohio State Fair Technology & Engineering Showcase in Columbus recently.

In the Technology & Engineering Showcase held in the Lausche Youth Center building, Westlake T & E students won the following awards:

The team of ETHAN SIMON (SR.), CONNOR REIS (SR.), ROBERT FULOP (SR.), & AUSTIN LOOSLI (SR.) won the BEST OF SHOW award for their “Multi-Unit Townhouse” and energy efficient model house design in the Construction/Architecture Technology category. The team also won the prestigious PEOPLE’S CHOICE Award.

ETHAN SIMON also won the BEST OF SHOW award for his “Ethan Simon Senior 3D Design Collection” project in the Additive Manufacturing Technology category.

CONNOR REIS also won the OUTSTANDING AWARD ribbon for his “Solar Submersible” project in the Invention/Innovation Technology category.

Winning the “Award of Merit” ribbon were the following:

ETHAN SIMON for his “Stash Splash” project in the Design Technology w/3D Printing category.

ERIC KRONZ (JR.) for his “Autonomous Vertical Math Functions w/a Mambo Drone” project in the Coding/Computer Science Technology category.

The Westlake High School Technology & Engineering department display also won the Award of Excellence Trophy for the BEST TECHNOLOGY EXHIBIT. Ohio State Fair officials from the Ohio Expo Center stated that just over 930,000 people attended the 12 day event.
