Avon Fishing Derby is Back

A summer highlight – the Avon Lions Club Fishing Derby – came back with a bang last weekend as about 200 kids along with families converged on Northgate Park for some serious worm-drowning.

Taking place from 8-10 a.m., bait was provided and there were prizes for the largest and smallest fish in each of 6 categories. There were even prizes for turtles and even a clam as no catch went unnoticed. All were thrown back.

Prizes were provided by Cabela’s and kids also got Stihl goodie bags. All children were also eligible for the Grand Raffle Prize: use of a Crushers Loge donated by the City of Avon and the Avon Parks & Recreation Department!
