On Thursday, the Westlake Track and Field Team won their first Conference Championship in 18 years by winning over 2nd place team North Olmsted 144 to 100. Westlake takes the championship in its first year being a part of the Great Lakes Conference.

The Demons were lead by outstanding performances from Adonis Shelby with 3 first places finishes in the 110m HH, long jump, as well as part of the 4x100m relay team (with Liam Shields, Jordeyn Mitchell, and Lucas Sanchez) New meet records were set in the long jump and 4×100. Joining Adonis atop the leader board was Basheer Alramahi that also won the 400m dash, anchored the winning 4×400 (with Ryan Eddy, Casey Bowman, and Lucas Sanchez) and 4×200 (with Joey Del Priore, Jordeyn Mitchell, and Lucas Sanchez) teams, as well as placing 4th in the 200m dash.

Junior Arrington Taylor also had a big meet in winning the shot put and placing 3rd in the discus after coming back from knee surgery in the fall. First year senior Tanner Amy also scored a lot of individual points for Westlake while placing 3rd in Long Jump, 2nd in the 200m dash and 3rd in the 300m IH.

Other athletes scoring in multiple events included KJ Mueller (4×800, 1600, 800) , Joey Del Priore (4×200, 4×800, 400), Lucas Sanchez (4×100, 4×200, 4×400) , Liam Shields (100, 4×100), Jordeyn Mitchell (100, 4×200, 4×100), and Tyler Schmitz (4×800, 3200).

The Westlake Boys team joined the Girls team as Champions this year, the first time ever that both teams had won a conference championship in the same year!
