Mass shootings and random gunfire is a sad reality of our national news headlines almost every week.
West Shore police, fire and all area safety forces are doing everything they can to be prepared.
Led by the WEB (Westshore Enforcement Bureau), Westlake, North Olmsted, Lakewood, Bay Village, Rocky River and Fairview Park Police Departments and Westlake Fire (and several other police and fire departments from Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties) trained alongside as well the week of April 3 at Forest School in North Olmsted.
The focus of the very realistic scenarios was to accomplish two goals in order, state Westlake Police:
1) Immediately Stop the Killing and 2) Save Lives.
“While all the officers and paramedics worked through these scenarios, WEB trainers concurrently put police and fire supervisors through incident command during these stressful incidents.

“They practiced working together to organize a chaotic situation to accomplish the stated goals most efficiently.
“This training complements Westlake’s commitment to dedicate a School Resource Officer in every public school.
