Restoring Stability for Women and Children at Laura’s Home

In Cleveland, where nearly half of all children live in poverty, Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center stands as a place of refuge, restoration, and new beginnings. As part of The City Mission, Laura’s Home provides more than shelter—it offers a path forward for women and children facing crisis.

Laura’s Home serves single women, mothers, and their children experiencing homelessness, often at moments of deep uncertainty. Many arrive carrying the weight of loss, instability, or unexpected hardship. What each family finds is a safe, welcoming environment where healing can begin.

At Laura’s Home, children are surrounded by consistency and care during a time that can feel overwhelming. From structured routines to academic support, every effort is made to ensure each child feels safe, supported, and able to grow.

Through individualized, long-term programs, residents receive comprehensive support designed to address the root causes of poverty. Services include meals, clothing, case management, life skills training, educational opportunities, and Christ-centered care. Each woman is equipped not only to meet immediate needs, but to build a stable and sustainable future for her family.

That transformation doesn’t end at graduation. Through Rothstein Village Transitional Housing for Families—Cleveland’s first and only transitional housing program for mothers and children—women can continue their journey toward independence. Here, mothers work to build income, pursue long-term goals such as homeownership, and provide lasting stability for their children. Just as importantly, children are able to remain in the same schools and communities, creating continuity that helps break the cycle of poverty.

Founded in 1910, The City Mission remains committed to restoring lives through the transforming power of God’s love. Entirely funded by private donations, the organization continues to serve individuals and families with compassion, dignity, and purpose.
